MESSAGE #220 GOING HOME…

They say that all the successful people don’t want to go to bed at night and can’t wait to get up in the morning. I’d like to add that they also can’t wait to get home from vacation.

The reason why is because they have found their purpose in life and are truly passionate about what they do and how they live. It’s not about an end result, it’s all about the journey. I’m looking forward to continuing my journey. Blogger’s Note: It’s normal to have bumps and detours on your journey, just remember to continue on. The bumps and detours will only keep you from your destination if you stop moving.

Next message from The Garden State. Adios, Cancun. Gracias.

MESSAGE #219 A STARTLING REALIZATION…

Hola again from Cancun, Mexico. I came to a startling and beautiful realization yesterday.

Even though the sun is hot and the drinks are cold, my favorite moment so far was when I received the following email from Newark, NJ…

Dear Ed,

I’ve been out of touch the past few weeks since I’ve been on tight time constraints with work, nevertheless, I do keep myself up to date with your blogs. I saw that you’re in Mexico. I love Mexico and I hope you end up enjoying it just as much. I think I’ll make another trip there soon so that I can enjoy the history and culture of the Cancun area. So I’ve been on this kick as my subject suggests. I’ve taken a lot from your information session from CanDo Fitness and I must say it’s really worked. I woke up one week and made a committment to be positive and have the best damned week I could possibly have. Even if people get in my way or try to bring me down, I’ll keep the thought in my mind that I will have the best week ever. Guess what? At the end of the week, I was feeling better than ever. I made the committment to myself to be better and to do the things that make me happier, such as getting focused at work, replacing my iPod since my old one crashed on me and I was in need of my music, spending more time with my family and friends.

Ultimately, everything that I needed to do to make me happier, I did. I didn’t let my coworkers interrupt me of getting my assignments updated, I didn’t let my friends bring me down with their problems, I didn’t let my family interfere with my personal time, and at the end of the week, everything was just the fruit of my original choice for the week. So I did it again the following week. And yet another wonderful week with great products. My boss has been more pleased with me, his boss is also very pleased, and I am loving the kudos I am getting for turning in my assignments with time to spare and with very little errors if any. I have to admit, the advice you gave about “if you’re not feeling too well, smile for a few minutes and you’ll start feeling better” really did make a difference. I honestly feel now like my mind is in a better place, and the positive me is starting to emerge as it used to many years ago before I trapped myself into the rat race. So I guess I’m trying to thank you for the encouraging words of wisdom that have started this really cool avalanche of positivity. Enjoy your trip again.

Alexa

I get emotional just re-reading that email. That tells me that the path I am on is the right one and that you could have all the beauty and riches in the world, but true happiness and fulfillment comes from helping others. Too many people chase material objects and money/fame but the truth is that you could INSTANTLY be the happiest person in the world…it’s already inside you. A winning mindset is the foundation to success.

Thank you Alexa for being an inspiration to me and my readers.

Thanks for reading.

Adios.

MESSAGE #216 PEAK PERFORMANCE EXERCISE

Today’s message is especially dedicated to all the students trying out for their school teams today. Remember…it’s better to go all out and lose than to hold back and win.

Here’s a simple exercise you can do every day to help you get closer to victory and farther away from defeat.

At the end of every day write down three things that went well. It could be something you did in tryouts, school, home or work. Then write down why it went well.

Example:

1. Today I had a great meeting with my staff.
(It went well because I was very organized and listened to their concerns)

2. Today I played great at tryouts.
(It went well because I have been really working hard on my mental game)

3. Today I had a great dinner with my spouse.
(It went well because I made time to spend with them)

The reason why this is a great exercise is because it keeps you in a positive state of mind. When you focus on the good things, more good things come to you. Someone once said, “Don’t look where you don’t want to go.”

This is also a very powerful exercise because it will boost your confidence, decrease your stress, improve your health and give you a good night’s rest. Then, you will wake up refreshed and ready for more greatness. Oh, and it will also help you win more.

So at the end of today for the next week, try this exercise. Let me know how it works.

MESSAGE #215 IF YOU WANT TO WIN, READ THIS…

It’s important to let people know you appreciate them, so today’s message is especially dedicated to my father, the amazing Vincent Tseng. Thank you Dad for helping make me the person that I am today by giving me unconditional support and love and by being a great role model. A big part of why I do what I do is to make you and Mom proud. Happy Birthday.

-DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES
-BEING CONSISTENT
-GIVING IT YOUR ALL
-LEARNING FROM MISTAKES

MESSAGE #214 THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT…

One of the best ways to predict how successful, happy and fulfilled a person is is how optimistic he/she is.

It’s easy to be pleasant
When life flows like a song.

But the person worthwhile
Is the one who will smile
When everything goes dead wrong.

For the test of the heart is trouble
And it always comes with years.

And the smile that is worth
The praises of earth
Is the smile that shines through tears.

Researchers have determined that it is impossible to develop eyestrain from looking on the bright side of things.

MESSAGE #213 A SECRET TO SUCCESS…

Today’s message is especially dedicated to the great Pennie Diamond Quintana, Secretary for the “First Day” project.

A secret to success?

HELP OTHERS.

I met with Pennie Diamond Quintana yesterday regarding the wonderful event called FIRST DAY NY. This event has been providing children in shelters in New York City backpacks for their first day of school. This year will be the second, First Day event. These backpacks are filled with school supplies with goodies in their favorite colors. Children make a “wish list” and sponsors put together a backpack for them. Some children don’t even have shoes, so they get shoes. Remember YOUR first day of school? It sets the tone for the rest of the year. A good first day gives children hope, optimism and the belief that regardless of their temporary situation, greatness is possible. You can also make a donation which 100% goes to the children.

I will be an area captain this year, so I’m looking for commitments starting today from anyone interested. I will keep you updated as I get more information but I highly recommend supporting this wonderful cause. Whoopi Goldberg has expressed interest in helping out this year.

Remember, the quality of your life is in direct proportion to the amount of contribution in your life. It’s not about “me” it’s about “we.” Help make a child’s first day of school a great one…it will not only touch their lives; it will touch yours.

MESSAGE #212 NO PAIN, NO GAIN…

Today’s message is dedicated to my new trainer, the great Anthony Carter, manager of Parisi Speed School-Princeton.

I woke up today sore…

AND I LOVE IT!

Anthony put me through the toughest workout I’ve done in about a year. The funny thing about me is that the harder it is and the more tired I get, the more I LOVE IT! That makes me work even HARDER. I did many footwork and movement exercises, all while working on my core. These are not only tennis-specific, but life-specific. If, I go outside and slip on some ice, I have a better chance than most to stay on my feet. These workouts not only physically, but mentally.

After that I gave a personal training session and did some more cardio with my client.

So push yourself more. When life makes you say, “I can’t,” do 3 more reps. As a society we give up too easily. If you ACT like everyone else, then you will get the RESULTS of everyone else. Don’t you want to be BETTER?

Now go out there and do just a little bit extra today; get out of your comfort zone and guess what?…

YOU’RE GOING TO AMAZE YOURSELF.

You’re going to start to do things you never thought you could do and that will make you enter a whole new world. It’s already inside you.

“To get what we’ve never gotten we must do what we’ve never done.”
