MESSAGE #430 THE MEANING OF LIFE…

The purpose of life
is to discover your gifts.

The meaning of life
is to give those gifts away.

MESSAGE #429 PARKOUR IS LIFE

“It works very much on both your mentality and physical nature. As you read the philosophy for parkour it really does effect how you would respond to obstacles in your life. It’s just a fantastic way to live and really exciting to do.” -Thomas Mizera, parkour traceur

Parkour (sometimes abbreviated to PK) or l’art du déplacement, English: the art of movement) is an activity with the aim of moving from one point to another as efficiently and quickly as possible, using principally the abilities of the human body. It is meant to help one overcome obstacles, which can be anything in the surrounding environment—from branches and rocks to rails and concrete walls—and can be practiced in both rural and urban areas. Parkour practitioners are referred to as traceurs, or traceuses for females.

Founded by David Belle in France, parkour focuses on practicing efficient movements to develop one’s body and mind to be able to overcome obstacles in an emergency.

MESSAGE #428 DISNEY BOOK CLUB…

So my friend was recently at Disney and look what she found…

WHAT IS PLUTO READING?
LILO LIKES “GAME”

STITCH CAN’T PUT IT DOWN…

Peak performance for Disney characters…I like it.

Thanks for checking in.

MESSAGE #427 INSANITY…

Today’s message is especially dedicated to the great Richard Hall in the Marketing/Professional Tennis Management program at Ferris State University.

Well, it’s official…I’m insane.

I woke up at 3:30AM with an idea…so I went downstairs and fired up my laptop. I updated by Facebook page, my Myspace page, my Amazon page, my edtseng.com page, my blog on princetonlivingwell.com and linked them all together (thanks, Karin Hiebert), sent out some emails, and now it is 6:06AM.

Now wait a minute, I know what you’re thinking…”All authors are crazy!”

OK, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a bit crazy.

Crazy about life.

Crazy about my job.

Crazy about helping others.

Crazy about marketing my book.

Crazy about leaving a legacy.

If you look in the history books, every major figure was thought to be crazy at some point in their lives. Do I think that I can make a major difference in the world?…

In a weird way…yes.

Not because I’m smarter, better looking, or more talented than anyone else…

It’s because I WANT to make a difference.

I WANT to help others become better.

I WANT to make the most out of my life.

What do YOU want?

OK, time to start my day…again.

So do yourself a favor…

Go a little crazy today.

Thanks for reading.

MESSAGE #425 GOALS, OBJECTIVES, AND YOUR RESULTS…

Today’s message is especially dedicated to the great Kaleb Patrick.

It’s not enough to take action.

It’s not enough to set goals.

You must be specific!

Here are two quotes on getting things done…

“If you don’t know where you’re going, you could wind up someplace else.”

-Yogi Berra

“Would you tell me please, which way I ought to go
from here?”

“That depends a good deal on where you want to
get to.”

-Lewis Carrol, Alice in Wonderland

MESSAGE #418 ENTHUSIASM

You can do anything if you have enthusiasm.
Enthusiasm is the yeast that makes your hopes rise to the stars.
Enthusiasm is the sparkle in your eye. It is the swing in your gait,
the irresistible surge of your will and your energy to execute your ideas.
Enthusiasts are fighters.
They have fortitude.
They have staying quality.
Enthusiasm is at the bottom of all progress.
With it there is accomplishment.
Without it there are only abilities.

-Henry Ford

Enthusiasm will help you get more tips as a waiter or waitress.
Enthusiasm will help you make more sales.
Enthusiasm will help you get better grades.
Enthusiasm will help you win more in sports.
If you have enthusiasm, you are a winner.
And the secret is…
You can have enthusiasm, whether you feel like it or not.

-Ed Tseng

MESSAGE #417 THE QUICKEST WAY TO REACH A GOAL…

Today’s message is especially dedicated to the great Sergeant Longo.

I always tell people that the quickest way to hit a target is to start shooting and make adjustments. That’s how you reach a goal; you need to take action and make adjustments instead of just “thinking” or “talking” about it.

I asked Sergeant Christopher Longo of the Lawrence Police Department if hitting a target at the shooting range was the same way. “Well, I won’t just tell you, I’ll show you.”

So yesterday, Sergeant Longo took me to the shooting range and I shot a .40 and .45. handgun. Guess what?

I hit the bull’s eye on the first round. Watch the video below.

MESSAGE #396 DO THIS AND YOU’LL BE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE…

Today’s message is especially dedicated to the great Amy Pertetua.

How are you doing?

Wait, let me explain – I don’t want to know how you’re feeling…

I want to know how you are doing…

in your sport

in your job

in your musical instrument

in your relationships.

You see, if you don’t know where you are, you can’t get to where you want to be. Most people in the world just go through the motions and see what life brings them. The successful people in the world create the life they want.

So how are you doing? Let me explain what I mean by way of a story.

There was once a little boy in a small town. One day the boy walked into the local grocery store and asked to use the phone. The manager let him, so he dialed a number and then spoke into the phone, “Hello, may I speak to Dr. Smith?”

“This is Dr. Smith,” the person on the other line responded.

“Dr. Smith, do you have someone to cut your lawn and tend to your flower bed?”

“Oh, yes, I already have someone doing those things for me.”

The boy said, “May I ask what kind of job that person is doing?”

“An excellent job, thank you,” was the reply.

“Okay, thank you for your time.”

So the little boy hung up the phone and began walking out the door when the manager of the store approached him.

“Young man, I like how you presented yourself on the phone and am impressed by your attitude. Let me offer you a job.”

“Thank you so very much, but I already have a job. I’m Dr. Smith’s boy – I was just checking in to see how I was doing.”

When was the last time you asked how you were doing?

Ask your coach.

Ask your boss.

Ask your romantic partner.

Don’t refrain from asking just because you might get an undesirable response. That’s the whole point! Getting feedback so you can get to the next level.

“If you don’t know where you’re going, you could wind up someplace else.”
