MESSAGE #211 GET READY TO BE IMPRESSED…

Todays’ message is especially dedicated to the great Ali Alam, future tennis champion.

Mr. Alam, after beating me in a tight 3-set table tennis match, requested that I put a video on my blog today. So, Ali, this one’s for you…

Thanks for reading/watching.

MESSAGE #210 FOCUS DEDICATION DISCIPLINE

Many of you are trying out for your school tennis team within the next couple of weeks. Some of you may be taking on various projects at work. Perhaps you are just trying to figure out your life. Maybe this will help…

No horse gets anywhere til he is harnessed.

No steam or gas ever drives anything until it is confined.

No Niagra is ever turned into light and power until it is tunneled.

No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated and disciplined.

-Harry Emerson Fosdick (1878-1969)

MESSAGE #209 “I’D LIKE TO THANK…”

Today’s message is especially dedicated to all the winners on Oscar night.

It was great to see all the winners, especially the ones who didn’t think they would win.

Did you notice how almost everyone ran out of time during their acceptance speech? All of them had a great team around them…some of them even felt that their team should be getting the award. One actress even said that she was giving her Oscar to her agent who brought her to America.

So who’s on your team?

Your team consists of your friends, family, peers, co-workers, teammates, bosses, coaches, teachers, basically everyone you come in contact with.

Is your team good enough to win you an Oscar…

in school?
at work?
in your sport?
in your relationships?

Make sure you have the right team around you…”a bad apple can ruin the bunch.” Make sure your team around you is helping you stay on track to being the person you want to be. If not, join another team. Obviously you can’t change your family, but you can change your other teammates.

And by the way, do you think that all the Oscar winners were trying to win an Oscar?

No way, they were focusing on putting out a good product and as a result, they won the award.

You are the director in the movie of your life…now go make a masterpiece.

MESSAGE #208 BEGIN WITH THE END…

One of the best ways to figure out how to lead your life is to start with the end.

At the end of your life, what do you want to be known for?

What do you want to be proud of?

What do you want to have contributed?

What legacy do you want to leave behind?

What do you want to be grateful for?

Now go out and be that person!

Remember these two things…

1. When you’re young, you think life is about possessions and material objects, but as you get older, you realize that life is about love, contribution and gratitude.

2. Most people won’t wish they took less risks, they’ll wish they took more.

In the end, I hope you’ll say, “I’m glad I did.”

MESSAGE #207 MIND GAMES

Today’s message is especially dedicated to the great Calvin Iszard, radio personality, host of “Capitol Talk,” WBCB 1490AM.

I have to admit, when I was being interviewed yesterday by Calvin Iszard on “Capitol Talk,” I was nervous, really nervous. Thank goodness it was audio, not video, because my hands were shaking a little bit. I had never been interviewed on the radio like that before and didn’t know what to expect. But I didn’t ACT like I was nervous. I acted confidently and then I FELT confident. Several people told me afterwards that I sounded great. In fact, WBCB wants me to go back once my book is out.

So what does that tell you? You don’t have to FEEL great to ACT great. Don’t let your feelings dictate how you perform. Just ACT the way you want to perform, then, you will FEEL great and get the result you want. This can be done in ANY situation.

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
-Frank Outlaw, actor

Once you begin to understand that you don’t need to feel great to act great, and that once you start taking the actions you desire, you are on your way to transforming your life to what you imagined. In order to live the life you want, you have to already ACT like you lead that life. All successful people ACTED successful before they BECAME successful.
-Ed Tseng, peak performance expert, motivational speaker, author

MESSAGE #206 ED TSENG JUST GOT STARTED…

Today’s message is especially dedicated to the great Muhammad Ridwan, Marketing Communications Officer at the Singapore Sports School.

In yesterday’s message, I talked about getting started. And yesterday, I got started. As I look back on my life, I see some failures, which turned out to be blessings in disguise. I also see many successes, which I am proud of. My purpose in life is to help as many people as I can, in any way that I can. I want to leave a legacy. So I’ve been thinking about how I could get to the next level and make the invisible…VISIBLE.

While talking with my friends, the great Mary Jane and Hugo Rossi, the idea of a private sports school came up. I loved the idea. That idea has been marinating in my mind for the past couple of weeks…so I began to do some research.

The best school that I found was the Singapore Sports School. They have an amazing website and the school looks exactly like something I would want to start. Being the action-oriented person that I am, I sent them an email stating that I was looking to start a similar school in the US. Well, guess what? This morning I received a wonderful and detailed email from Muhammad Ridwan with loads of information on their school and their daily schedule.

WOW.

This is amazing on many levels.

1. I don’t have to start from scratch to start my school.
2. I now have a resource to turn to with any questions or concerns.
3. Now I want to return the favor, so I have offered to go to Singapore to give a seminar.
4. Because they were so generous to share their information, I will speak highly of them.

Many people like to keep their information to themselves, but I think that that is weak. When you share information, you are powerful. That shows confidence and it also helps you grow and become better. If you give everything away, you are forced to learn new ways. The last thing you want to do is keep all your information to yourself and not improve. That is why I have this blog and that is why I am writing a book.

So, needless to say, I am quite excited. The ball is rolling. So thank you to the Rossi’s and thank you to Muhammad Ridwan and the Singapore Sports School.

Don’t forget to listen in on “Capitol Talk” today from 1-2PM…Calvin Iszard will be interviewing me on success, motivation and my new book…WBCB 1490AM

Message #205 HOW TO GET STARTED…

Many people know what they want to accomplish but don’t take that initial step so everything goes on the back burner. Here’s how to get started.

DO SOMETHING, ANYTHING!

The beauty of getting what you want is that you don’t have to wait…you can start NOW. Success love speed. Once you start to gain some momentum you will really get excited. When you get excited, you will get the desire. When you get that desire, there’s nothing stopping you.

So if you want to learn photography, go to Barnes and Noble today and buy a how-to book on taking photographs. Call a photographer you know and ask them for advice. Do a search online for photography tips. Buy a photo magazine.

You don’t have to wait for the “perfect time” to start because, guess what? There will NEVER be a perfect time.

Stop preparing and start DOING.

Stop being the prisoner of your past and start being the architect of your future.

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” – Anne Frank, diarist

Message #204 YOU NEED GOALS IN ORDER TO SCORE…

Today’s message is especially dedicated to the great Kristyna McKee and Briana Lyons.

Do you have SMART goals?

Are they…

Specific

Measurable

Attainable

Relevant

Timely

Only 3% of people have goals.

“The distance a person goes is not as important as the direction.”

Don’t strive for mediocrity. Strive for greatness.

Don’t just exist. Live with meaning.

Don’t just focus on yourself. Add value to others.

Figure out what you want and put all your energies toward that definite purpose.

YOU create your destiny…by your goals and actions.

“It’s not too late to become what you might have been.”

MESSAGE #203 I FEEL THE NEED, THE NEED FOR SPEED…

Today’s message is especially dedicated to the great Anthony Carter, Manager of the Parisi Speed School in Princeton.

The Parisi Speed School is the industry leader in performance enhancement for athletes. They look to create positive training experiences that improve speed of movement and strength of character. Athletes range from 7 years old all the way to the Pros, and the programs strive for two things: improved athletic performance, and, more importantly, a better feeling about themselves.

I spoke to Parisi-Princeton Manager, Anthony Carter yesterday after I gave a mini-seminar to their athletes. I was extremely excited because what I’m doing for the mind (and body), Parisi is doing for the body (and mind).

Mr. Carter, talked about plyometrics, placement of feet and arms while moving, your core and movement symmetry. Self-Esteem us also a big part of the program, which comes along with improvement in body movement and strength.

Athletes need to rely on specific Sport Knowledge, Skill and their Foundation. Parisi focuses on the Foundation, which includes speed, strength, balance, nutrition, self-confidence and injury prevention.

Being an athlete, tennis pro and peak performance expert, I was completely amazed by their programs. If you are an athlete in the Princeton area, I highly recommend Parisi.

It’s not just about training, it’s about training SMART. You could train 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, but that doesn’t guarantee that you are improving.

So don’t just train harder, train smarter. Gain balance…in your sport and in life. Thank you, Mr. Carter.

Message #202 TO HAVE AN EXTRAORDINARY LIFE, YOU NEED AN EXTRAORDINARY MINDSET

Today’s message is especially dedicated to the great acupuncturist, Jessica Mueller.

“Nothing is as real as a dream. The world can change around you, but your dream will not. Responsibilities need not erase it. Duties need not obscure it. Because the dream is within you, no one can take it away.” – Tom Clancy

A college professor prepared a test for his soon-to-be-graduating seniors. The test questions were divided into three categories and the students were instructed to choose questions from only one of the categories. The first category of questions was the hardest and worth fifty points. The second, which was easier, was worth forty points. The third, the simplest, was worth thirty points.

Upon completion of the test, students who had chosen the hardest fifty-point questions were given As. The students who had chosen the forty-point questions received Bs. Those who settled for the easiest thirty-pointers were given Cs.

The students were frustrated with the grading of their papers and asked the professor what he was looking for. The professor leaned over the podium, smiled, and explained, “I wasn’t testing your book knowledge. I was testing your aim.”

-Speaker’s Sourcebook II

So the key is to have such big dreams and goals that we push ourselves beyond our limits. We live in a society of “just doing enough to get by” and by staying in our comfort zones, we do not acheive greatness.

You can either be like everyone else and just “get by” or you can aim to become something extraordinary. The choice is yours.
